Inside Plant Engineering

Excellence in Communications Engineering

At Mid-State Consultants we know that our clients are facing increasing demands to provide voice, video, and data services. We constantly strive to provide efficient, effective solutions for our clients’ specific mix of traffic and services.

For many of our clients our inside plant engineering begins with an assessment of the immediate needs and long-range goals. This is often accompanied by cost estimates and design layouts including phased implementation.

Our dedicated switching engineers will work with the client to develop an overall plan for switching and transmission. Voice switching requirements might include AIN (Advanced Intelligent Network) services, Local Number Portability, SS7 network interconnection, advanced add-on services, "gateway" services such as voice over IP via SIP or MGCP, and integration of existing and proposed remotes and digital loop carrier.

Transmission and distribution options seem to be multiplying every day. Telephony and computer networking vendors are now responding to the explosion of the data market with hardware and software solutions that are innovative but which can be difficult to efficiently integrate with existing services. Transmission methods such as optical Ethernet and Packet-over-SONET will need to be considered. At the CO, data from various sources must be routed or switched with minimum delay. Other possible considerations include integration with wireless services, as well as building and power issues such as lightning protection and emergency generators.

Once a plan is established we will work with the client to supervise installation and test performance of hardware and software, and also assist in coordination with connecting companies. We strive to provide as much or as little assistance as the client desires.

Our ISP and design engineers work in close coordination with the client to determine the best mix of technologies for efficient services today and clear migration options for the future.
