Good facility data is an asset and becomes a tool in the hands of management to facilitate wise decisions, today and in the future. e-TICS Outside Plant Inventory & Design (OSP) manages all access and transport networks including copper, optical, coax, wireless, and FTTx. e-TICS OSP maintains end-to-end network topologies based upon modern communications logic and rules to support aerial, buried, and underground plant.

The e-TICS OSP front-end makes use of Autodesk’s AutoCAD MAP graphics engine to place e-TICS network and infrastructure objects on a spatially accurate landbase and define the network connectivity. This process is validated by engineering rules, and supported by a sophisticated Work Order process which keeps track of every part of the network’s lifecycle. The use of AutoCAD as the frontend reduces training requirements to a matter of a few hours, with e-TICS objects and menus becoming part of Auto­CAD’s user interface.

All network elements (equipment, cables, terminal boxes, splitters, etc.), infrastructure elements (poles, pedestals, ducts, etc.), connectivity information, documentation (pictures, manuals, spreadsheets, permits, etc.), etc. are stored in the same Oracle data­base and are accessible to all departments throughout the company.

e-TICS provides redlining capabilities for field operations and analysis tools to define, segment and spatially filter information. These datasets support plant taxation, marketing analysis, and regulatory reporting. Spatial analysis, inherent to AutoCAD MAP, supports a sandbox environment with features to examine and scrutinize data from varying sources.

Network changes fully controlled and documented via Work Orders
